PLEASING GOD ALONE

But JESUS did not commit Himself to them, for HE knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for HE knew what was in man.  John 2:24, 25

The desire to please men, to hear them testify well of you is futile. It is a time consuming, worthless desire. Nothing you do can please men. They will always find something better and a reason to justify why u were not up to the mark. Pleasing GOD also isn’t easy but it’s at least not futile. The time spent in pleasing GOD is always worthwhile. He understands our weaknesses and considers our efforts. There is nothing we can do to say that it was the best GOD could have ever got. No, we can’t! But we can always find him treasure the smallest gift that we give HIM. That’s because he loves us. And he cares for us.

JESUS knew men. HE knew what was in man. And that’s why he did not want to please them. HE chose to please GOD instead by doing HIS will. HE did not mind if men did not approve his teaching or refused to believe in the miracles HE did. HIS focus was not to attract those who did not want HIM; instead HE came for the needy. The ones who needed HIM, HE came for them. And HE didn’t allow anything of this world to lead HIM astray from HIS purpose.

Time and again the Jews asked HIM for a sign (1 Cor. 1:22) and then rejected the evidence that HE provided. HIS resurrection was the greatest proof of HIS deity (Matt. 12:38-40), but the Jews did not understand what HE was talking about. They would destroy the temple by crucifying HIM, but HE would triumph over them in HIS resurrection.

Today, if men do not appreciate u for the efforts you take, if the hard work that you put into is unnoticed, if you feel that no one wants to testify well of you let me tell you that it was also the same case with JESUS. HE has been through it all. He understands you.

And moreover we do deserve to be treated like this because we are born of flesh and we are sinners. We deserve what we get but its GOD who chooses to give us what we don’t deserve. And that’s the best. Wait on HIM and toil to please HIM. I bet. It will be worthwhile.
